Testo Used To You - Commentary - Laci Kaye Booth

Testo della canzone Used To You - Commentary (Laci Kaye Booth), tratta dall'album Laci Kaye Booth (Big Machine Radio Release Special)

Thank you for listening to Big Machine Radio. I'm Becca, and I'm
Excited today because we have something special. If you're an
American Idol fan, you probably know the name Lacey K. Booth. She
Participated on season 17 of Idol, made it pretty far, but
Now she's here in Nashville, and she is pursuing her country
Music dream, and she just put out her first collection of music
It is self-titled. There are eight songs, and we're gonna play
Them all. Plus, we're lucky enough to have Lacey here to tell
Us about these songs because she had a hand in writing every
Single one of them. But first, if you're not familiar with
Lacey, Lacey, tell people just a little bit about growing up
I grew up in Livingston, Texas, a small town where everybody knows
Everybody. My parents were actually really young when they had me
They were 15 and 17, and they ended up divorcing when I was three
And my dad is a traveling Texas country musician. And some of my
Earliest memories is sitting on the couch with my dad while he
Played guitar and singing with him. My dad loved Merle Haggard and
Willie and Waylon, and so we would sing old-school country music
But what I really enjoyed, my go-to song was "Crazy" by Patsy Cline
Dang, that is a big song for a little girl, but I understand
That music was actually around you all the time because
Your father's side of the family had a lot of music going on
So, my dad's side of the family comes from a long line of musicians
And they're all musically inclined, and they have an annual
Jubilee called the Ogden Jubilee. And I remember the first
Time I got on stage, I was probably around the age of eight
And I sang "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, and I got a standing ovation
That's amazing. That had to make you feel good even at eight years old
It did. I think it lit a fire in me
And I was ready to roll after that
Well, I say let's go ahead and roll into your self-titled
Debut collection of music. The first song on this album
I think, might be my favorite. The first time I heard it
I fell in love with it. Please tell people about "Used to You"
"Used to You" is about a relationship that you know this person so
Well, you're so used to them, but it's actually a different spin on
The phrase "used to you." It's being used to somebody in a really
Good way. You know them, and you love them, and you know them by
Heart. I think this is one of the most real songs I've ever written
On the day it was written, it was actually a Zoom write, and before
I Zoomed in with my co-writers, Sam Ellis and Sarah Hayes, I actually
Wrote probably half the chorus by myself because I was just so
Inspired that day. And I got on and I said, "I don't know
If this is anything, but we can totally not do it." And
I sang it to them, and they said, "Oh, we totally have
To do that one." So that made me feel really good. It's
Probably one of my most favorite songs I've ever written
Well, like I said, it's one of my favorite songs you've ever
Written too, so thank you for that. It just has kind of a soothing
Sweet tone to it. It's called "Used to You" from Lacey K. Booth
