Testo Diáspora - Sin
Testo della canzone Diáspora (Sin), tratta dall'album Andpoetry
I have the heart of a lion
The body art synonymous with cage
I have the mind of a philosopher
The walk, talk, and sleight of hand
That can only be acquired, practiced, perfected
By writing or illicit nighttime transactions
Your guests predestined by family tree to be laborer or prisoner
Raised by heavy bass and sirens blaring
Knowledge passed around glass bottles and cigarette smoke
Like, since your daddy's side of the family did bids
They told him you would never be shit
"Prove him wrong"
Was a constant conversation
Since we minority, we easy target
First scapegoat for white folk
They banking on you not being shit
Prove him wrong
Well, that's the rough translation
And here I am, standing in front of you of all places
Would you say that I escaped destiny or re-scripted my fate?
The pen be the only thing that could take me away
From the place where temptations are all at arm's length
What of the rest, those left behind?
The unwillingly complacent or weak in the mind?
Would you call me any better than them?
If they end up in cages
Or lose themselves to despair and self-medication
Would you say they had no potential because it wasn't realized?
Would you praise my accomplishments
And refer to my roots as simple circumstance, coincidence?
Would you disregard those whose stories I tell?
Standing in places not meant for me
In front of crowds whom without this pen would never meet my gaze
Outside this place, could you tell a poet out of a crowd?
Or would you call us all laborers
Prisoners until we prove you wrong?
