Testo Thunder Fall - The Wahala Collective
Testo della canzone Thunder Fall (The Wahala Collective), tratta dall'album The War Eze
Kal Mysters, you are the graveyard of warriors
Look at the Thunder... he's come undone
I told Damballa: "Take the crown. Take the name. Take the men."
I painted my body white — same chalk marks as the outpost
But that was the beginning. This was the end
I tied the sheet. Buried my axe in the beam
The rope was ready. So was I
I stood on the chair. Nothing left of my name
Of all that followed me, none left to blame
I stripped my fear. The rope pulled tight
Silence fell in the middle of the night
Oh-oh, thunder falls from the sky
The Great Eze says he's ready to die
Axe in the beam and body on the floor
The War Eze won't fight no more
Lost his army, lost his wife
Used his own hands to take his life
Chineke! The King has snuffed his light
The ancestors tremble at the sight
I floated like smoke above a dying fire
My body on the ground — Ijele's hands upon my chest
She pressed and pressed, crying for the man she once desire
But the dead don't answer. The dead just rest
Then something shifted — taller than the room, taller than the night
Red marks burning under skin that glowed from within
White hair pouring down like something losing light
Death. The most beautiful thing I'd ever seen
Oh-oh, thunder falls from the sky
The Great Eze says he's ready to die
Axe in the beam and body on the floor
The War Eze won't fight no more
Lost his army, lost his wife
Used his own hands to take his life
Chineke! The King has snuffed his light
The ancestors tremble at the sight
Death spoke: "I am the echo in the void. The beginning and the end."
She raised her scythe. Her smile was cold and sure
"You sealed your people's fate. You pushed away your closest friend
You lost everything, Amadioha. What is left to endure?"
"You were told the road to Vodun would only bring you death."
She stepped aside — a door of light behind her burned
"Your warnings fell on deaf ears
Now give me your last breath
The Queen of Sine told you — from dust you have returned."
But something broke through the void
A sound I knew
A voice - that had no business in this place
"Eggnant!" Ijele. Calling me back
A voice Death couldn't erase
Eggnant! Eggnant
Death raised her scythe: "You be mine"
But I am the war Eze. I no dey align
I drove for my body, split through her like light
The heart of the thunder, the soul of the storm
Agony. Pain. Every nerve on fire
I crawled through the void, through the spirit's mire
I slapped the scythe. I kicked the gate
"I no go die today. Death will have to wait."
Oh-oh, thunder falls from the sky
But the Great Eze not ready to die
Axe in the beam and body on the floor
The War Eze will fight once more
Lost his army, found his wife
Used his own hands to take his life
But The Eze has found his light
The ancestors delight at the sight
Gasp. I breathed. Life-giving air
Ijele's lips on mine — she was there
Damballa pushed my chest, every rib cracked — snap
But the Great Eze, I have come back
I coughed up the blood, I looked at my wife
She was the anchor, she was the life
"Why did you do this?" she asked with a slap
"Try it again, Amadioha, and I'll let you die. No coming back."
She held my face. Her hands were still shaking
"Not Eggnant," she whispered. Her voice barely whole
"I'm pregnant... with the child of the man I thought was dead."
New life in the camp, new life for the king
The Thunder will roar... the people will sing
Amadioha... you won't die
Not today. Kirina land... we still stand
