I heard this song as part of the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival

And it was actually our friend Paula

The Swedish Housewife, um, singing it

And she is pretty much the woman in the song

Like the lyrics were written for a

Woman like Paula the Swedish Housewife

And I look up to her so much and I hope to

Grow up to be something like her someday

This beautiful burlesque performer turned producer with all the

Wisdom and sageness that a woman of her age can possibly have

And she's just this lovely, lovely lady

And so I was a little presumptuous to ask

John to let me use the song for the album

But we kind of put a little bit more of a

Melancholy, almost like a Marlene Dietrich song

Putting it very like dark and morose

And singing it as if like I'm a woman at the end of her reign

And singing to younger girls out there about

"Don't make the same mistakes I made when I was your age"

And even though I'm not that old and I'm not a grande dame yet

I think it's really fun to play that part for the album

You can definitely tell that the character in the

Song has learned these lessons from experience

So that's a truthful feeling that comes through with that

I really enjoy, Diego, the Godfather

Vibe that comes in there on the solo

Yes, mandolin and violins

So what happened with that, um, actually

The working title in my studio for this song

Dubbed by my assistant Samantha Jean was "Anastasia"

'Cause it sounds like Anastasia

So that was a working title for this song

I'm listening to what he's playing—oh, Mr. Major here

And it was just so beautiful, it was like perfect

And they just came out

And I was like, "Okay, I need mandolins

Somebody find me mandolins, now!"

And the strings just came together

And everything I thought was just really

That beautiful waltz feeling that made me

Think of Anastasia dancing in the ballroom

With Bartok flying off

Yeah, it definitely has that feeling to it

And, um, my lineage is mostly Russian, so that works perfectly for us
