Testo Lovin' Spoonful - Rev. Gary Davis

Testo della canzone Lovin' Spoonful (Rev. Gary Davis), tratta dall'album Acoustic Blues

You know I come in one morning to my gal's house about half past four
She got a chair and knocked me right back out the door
She comes to raising sand with me
Just about a spoonful
I never knowed such a stir made raised before in my life
Just about a spoonful
I come in one morning just about half past nine
She got the biggest chair in the house
And tried her best to knock me blind
She raised sand with me again just about a spoonful
Standing on her head saying, "If you want
To get along with me, give me my spoonful"
Come in one night just about half past ten
Stuck my key in the door and I clared I couldn't get it in
She was on the inside standing on her head by the spoonful
She had the whole neighborhood stirred up
Just about a spoonful
Well, I come in one evening just to get my dinner
She got so bad on my hand until I had to stick my sword in her
Raised so much sand with me just about a spoonful
Never knowed so much devil raised before in my life
Just about a spoonful
I come in one evening just got my pay
Told my pocketbook and I left
She throwed it back at me and said, "Go your way"
She didn't want no money
She said, "I want you just to give me my spoonful
You ain't gonna get along with me
'Til you give me my spoonful"
Come in one evening to go downtown
She got a smoothing iron and knocked me down to the ground
Started raising sand with me again by the spoonful
I never knowed no woman cut it so in my life
Just about a spoonful
I come in tired one night, hungry and sleepy as I could be
She got a kettle of water and tried to scald the fool out of me
Started that same thing again by the spoonful
"If you want to get along in this house
Man, you better give me my spoonful"
