Testo Long John - Bob Dylan
Testo della canzone Long John (Bob Dylan), tratta dall'album The Joker, Vol. III: Early Years
Just a tale about lost John
Long John from the Bowling Green
I'm long gone, long Johnny went to the corn, went to the corn
Like a turkey in the corn, he's running through the corn
With long clothes on, he's running through the corn
Long John, with long clothes on
Well, the wood was deep and the water was wide
Long John, come on the East Coast side
Trapped in the river, trying to get on a car
Jumped on alligator, thought it was a hut
John done come from the other side
Seen them guns in the poorest hide
He's long gone, running through the trees
Running through the swamp
He's long gone, he's long gone
He's long-lost John from the Bowling Green
En route come, one of the trains come around
Ain't number nine by the way, she sound
Train is rolling them around the bend
16 cops through, they had no way in
Long John ran to the side board tracks
Jumped that train, never him come back
Train, it's coming, on the way he was
Someone seen him in Arkansas
Train come around, the train sounds
Train sounds something like this
John's jumped that train going 30 miles
Got so tired that the poor boy fell off
Wailing down in a farmer's house
Seen them lights from a million miles
Now the farmer there he would live
Pretty poor little dog surrounded him
One light shining on top of that bend
And John didn't know if he could come in
He emptied the river and dogs
Hear the sound of the dog
Little pretty dog
Big bad dog
Long John's scared, he's running through the corn
He's running fast as the boots never born
Hey long John, running through the corn
With his long clothes on
Hey long John, long John, long John running through the corn
Long clothes on, long clothes off
Long clothes off, long clothes on the dog
The train
Last time I heard of him he was over in Europe
