Testo Houndog - Cold Chisel
Testo della canzone Houndog (Cold Chisel), tratta dall'album The Big Five-0 Live
The first ten years of the band's life
We spent our days and our nights
Drivin' up and down the east coast of Australia
Playin' to anybody that would have us
Playin' most towns we seen
And gettin' run out of most of them
We had a fuckin' good time, ah
In fact, so good, that we wrote a song about it
Goes like this
Come on
Hump that coffin up 'round one more bend
Hump that coffin up 'round one more bend
And if your head, it need a bandage
Try a roadhouse open sandwich
Fuck the waitress, and hit the road again
I got dog's disease and asphalt on my shoes
I got dog's disease and asphalt on my shoes, yeah
I got the houndog sitting by the side of the road
Houndog sittin' by the side of the road
Houndog sittin' on the side of the highway blues, yeah
I coulda flown East-West, the ticket was outta my reach
And I coulda gone rail, they said I looked a little strange
And the Budget girl just got the sack
The interstate bus just breaks my back
Sick of gettin' home
And counting my remaining change
I got the houndog sitting by the side of the road
Houndog sitting by the side of the road
Houndog sitting by the side of the highway blues
Highway blues
Ride the line to Hornsby station
Find my circus animals again
Don't need no communication
Through the ghost-towns and fade away
The railway don't come out here no more
And it's cold
Through Nambucca, up the coast
Where the grass is greener
And the girls are sweeter
I did it all for the last ten summers
Leave the waves, change the culture
Choose a far off name that suits ya
Bali, Bangkok, overland
Asian highway, Amsterdam
There's always one town unexplored
And in the end
It's the motion is its own reward
It's just the motion
It's just the motion
It's just the motion
It's just the motion
It's just the motion
I see petrol-heads, country hicks
Bible-freaks and lunatics
50 miles to go and I'll be home
I'll be home
I got the houndog sitting by the side of the road
Houndog sittin' by the side of the road
The houndog sittin' on the side of the highway blues
Oh, the highway blues
Yeah
