Once upon a time on a block near you
People spoke truth until the money came through
It's funny how haters act for players
They talk a whole bunch of mess and then they ask for favors
When I was down they kept it pushing like a shopping cart
They talk bad and mug mad but they ain't got the heart
Everybody wanna rap what they got to say
Get it shawty this is why I'm hot and they may fade
But I don't wanna be the next Pac I wanna be the first guy
To give the game something it ain't already got
I got a whole lot asking what happened to hip-hop
And even more talking about the album I ain't drop
It's all bad like when it gon' get right
So my homie put me on game with a little insight
He said the steady decline of rap is at a massive proportion
Now it's all about the money with the easy absorption
I say I know life isn't always fair
But I'm gonna be right there
And as long as I'm around I'ma hold you down (I'ma hold you down)
I know life isn't always fair
But I'm gonna be right there
And as long as I'm around I'ma hold you down (I'ma hold you down)
What really bugs me about some women
Is the fact they can't set an example for young women
The tension that we feel when we are among women
And the hatred for males that has become women
Ignorance is bliss and that's why I'm miserable
This craft is a gift that I'm giving to you
See people abuse people they don't know how to live the truth
And people use people they refuse to live for you
They tell me that life is wasted on the youth
And as I get older I start to see that there's truth
The heavy decline of intelligent minds
Most won't catch what I'm saying they say it's irrelevant rhymes
I'm trying to pass the knowledge the veteran kind
I'm aggressive with lessons the malevolent kind
Keeping kids from mistakes was better than crime
And I know I'm not perfect but I'll get better with time
I say I know life isn't always fair
But I'm gonna be right there
And as long as I'm around I'ma hold you down (I'ma hold you down)
I know life isn't always fair
But I'm gonna be right there
And as long as I'm around I'ma hold you down (I'ma hold you down)
I cry for D-Tex so respect the tears
Too afraid to speak you better check your fears
Time moves fast man resurrect your years
Suicide is a plea to not neglect your peers
You gotta be happy to be alive while you decide
That all it takes is a dream and some drive so strive
Most people don't know what to do with they lives
No role models in they lives so they living a lie
Following the things that they seen on TV
Thinking to themselves one day that'll be me
Girls are flowered at the age of fifteen
The innocence is gone in the inner cities
Now everybody wanna go and put out tracks
They get mad when I tell them what they put out's wack
And if you ain't a solution then you part of the problem
If you ain't broke then you need to be stopping
I say I know life isn't always fair
But I'm gonna be right there
And as long as I'm around I'ma hold you down (I'ma hold you down)
I know life isn't always fair
But I'm gonna be right there
And as long as I'm around I'ma hold you down (I'ma hold you down)
