Testo Gettin' Stupid - Mellow Man Ace
Testo della canzone Gettin' Stupid (Mellow Man Ace), tratta dall'album Escape From Havana
Soft ducks, back off and step off
Or get lost, 'cause I'm goin' off and lettin' off
And every last lyric is straight comin' off
Hype when on stage with the mic
Always comin' tasty like shrimp or veal
You say I'm soft? Sucker, be for real
'Cause that's unheard of, can I get a word up?
This kid must be a joke, right? 'Cause that's absurd, huh?
I ain't sayin' I'm the freshest or the def
But I'm fresh and def so don't test this
Seniority, 'cause to me it's a tradition
To serve hype, rhymin' compositions
That my effect as I create a category
Usin' science at the Hill's laboratory
And comin' out with funky, funky music
But don't play me 'cause I'm on the verge of gettin' stupid
H-man, a man so innovative
Or banish Spanish market, I rule it 'cause I'm creative
Now you're sayin', "Yeah, the kid's awfully nice
Talk about flavor, he's got it chillin' on ice"
But now I'm funky just like James Brown
Packed and strapped to spray around town
Of course, all alone when I'm on the microphone
Dethrone kings so don't come in my zone
'Cause when I'm slayin', you don't stand a chance
Just get on the floor and straight dance
So if I ever say don't slip or step my way
You must obey, 'cause I don't play
I just be rockin' the stage for those who love bein'
In the place to be while Ace is MCing and
Gettin' ya loose with funky, funky music
But don't play me 'cause I'm on the verge of gettin' stupid
Stupid
I nut upon whoever I want to
'Cause once I get started, my man, I cold get retarded
'Cause it's doper and hyper, and just your type of
Rhyme and vocab I invented in the lab
Sweeter than candy in your grab bag
So all you suckers who wanna learn to swing
The king of everything
Is bringin' a new style of singin'
Lingo, it'll flow fast or slow
It all depends on the record's tempo
So yo, get the swing of this
You know it ain't a sucker bringin' this
New style or method of rockin' on a record
Stop checkin' and checkin' and start respectin'
'Cause I ain't goin' out like a cold biscuit
Mellow, boy, you don't have to ask who is it
But just look out 'cause I'm comin' with my music
Funky dope maneuvers on the verge of gettin' stupid
Excuse me while I get stupid
Wanna get busy? Let's get to it
'Cause I came to move, show and prove, I came to groove
Slap you with a taste of the Ace even though you disapprove
Of my style, what can I do though, but just smile
'Cause I do this for the fun and the laughter
And all the zoids that we be clockin' after
We've appeared on Soul Train
And showed off the dope rope gold chain
Now you know my name and my claim to fame
Peace, I'm outta here, pop the champagne
