Testo Ethusel - Sandy Denny
Testo della canzone Ethusel (Sandy Denny), tratta dall'album Sandy Denny Complete Edition
Placed there a dark star against the black sky
Of a night thirteen hundred years old
It cast shrouding shadows upon the dead earth
Of the dark moors of Val Demerad
Over Val Demerad the sun never smiled
And the noon of the day was in shadow
And the sky wept its tears on the black barren earth
Under the dark star of Val Demerad
On a shrine of black wires, Drethusa lay dead
As he had for thirteen centuries
At his feet five crows stood and watched his keep
And the whisper of time sighed o'er the hills
Previsana, astride her winged white stag
Rode the skies in search of the star
And a serpent entwined about the stag's head
Tried to reach out and poison her heart
Oh no, Previsana, you will not go far
Drethusa has only one eye
And if you do not reach him before it is over
Val Demerad falls into the ocean
Previsana took her thorn and she stabbed the serpent's eye
And he fell through the clouds to the land
As she rode on and on, through the blazing sky
O'er horizons of mountains and sand
It was then that the daylight became a dark night
And she recalled what Disarna had said
"When the night becomes black and no sound can be heard
You have come to Val Demerad"
And she found the dark star hanging low in the sky
And she gathered it up in her arms
And she rode to the shrine where Drethusa lay dead
And she placed the dark star to her heart
And the star became bright and it shone on the land
And the shrouds of darkness were gone
And Drethusa was standing beside Previsana
And the light came to Val Demerad
