Testo Daylight Dreamer - Shel Silverstein

Testo della canzone Daylight Dreamer (Shel Silverstein), tratta dall'album Boy Named Sue

Here's the half-finished painting of a girl

That I started last December

Here's the first three pages of my novel

'Bout, oh, I don't really remember

Here's my Martin guitar

That I never quite learned how to play

That's the daylight dreamer

Wishful thinker's way

I had a Harley bike

But I traded off to a fella

For the ashtray glass boat

That's still sittin' down in my cellar

I bought a tape recorder

And found I had nothin' to say

That's the daylight dreamer

Wishful thinker's way

I got an exercise machine

Man, I'd be glad to let you try it

This, well, this is a Leica camera, yeah

And like, maybe you'd, uh, like to buy it

I can give you a real good deal

I just need enough money

To buy myself some modeling clay, yeah

That's the daylight dreamer

Wishful thinker's way

On the day that I die

They'll be talkin' 'bout the dearly departed

And they'll say he never ever

Finished nothin' that he started

But I started this song

And man, I'm gonna finish it today

Yeah, that's the daylight dreamer

Was it daylight or wish, wishful thinker?

What, I forget the, I forget the words

Listen, uh, anyway, why don't we

Why don't we just take a break and finish it later, you know?

'Cause I could really use a sandwich

I'll have to go down and get myself a BLT or somethin', you know?

And listen, uh, right near the restaurant

I think you'll really dig this

Because right near the restaurant there's this

Great old bookstore and they got all these

Great old Big Little books and comic books

You know, they got old Batman and the Joker and Superman

You know, I always wanted, I always wanted to make a collection

Of Big Little books and comic books, you know

Get a real big collection

They got that guy that used to stretch out

What was his, Plastic Man, yeah, man

And they got a lot of things, that's what I really
