Testo Conversations with Michel, Pt. 2 - Bob Malach feat. Michel Petrucciani
Testo della canzone Conversations with Michel, Pt. 2 (Bob Malach feat. Michel Petrucciani), tratta dall'album Conversations with Michel
Somehow, the more I listen to my music, which I don't do very often
But when I do an album, I listen to it a lot after it's done, you
Know, because I want to criticize and like that, but I realize that
I'm getting more and more to be myself, if that means anything, you
Know, to anybody, but it's getting more and more Michel Petrucciani's
Sound and not Michel Petrucciani, Bill Evans quote, McCoy Tyner
Quote, Keith Jarrett quote, you know, everybody in town, you know
Except me, you know. So now it's like, uh, it's becoming more me
And I think that, uh, but I'm not looking for that. I think that
Somebody, if you look for that, then it's wrong. You'll never get it
Because it comes naturally, I think. The more experience you get
The more, you know, like that. So that's what I'm looking for in my
Music, and I want to play stronger, better, and some more like myself
, If that means anything, because it really doesn't, because we all
Like, I think that, you know, the musicians, we all a big tree. It's
Like a family tree. We all, we all, we born, we all have a father or
A mother, you know. It's like, I come from a somebody, and you know
Eventually, one of these days, somebody will come out of me, you
Know. That could be possible, too. But, uh, we all, like, it's a
Big tree. You know, you got Art Tatum and Oscar and, you know, Bud
And Monk, you know, like that. So, what I'm looking at right now
After, is the sound. I'm looking after the sound of the piano
Because I think that if you have the sound, if the sound is right
And strong enough, and it could, you know, it's like, the sound is
Like, I could picture a sound like a Swiss watch. If it's on time
If you play on time, you're going to get the sound. And if you play
On time, you're going to get the sound, then you don't need to play
Anything else but that. Okay? And it's like, a, it's a very hard
Thing to do, because I find myself now, when I think of playing like
That, I get lost sometimes, because the chord changes go by, and
The tempo is here, and, you know, and I'm trying to play, okay
Now play the sound. Meanwhile, you know, fifteen bars went by in
Front of my eyes, and I didn't see it, you know, and I go, "Huh
Where are we now?" You know? So, it's, uh, but I'm working on that
You know, but I think that the sound is the most important thing
Because if you get that and the timing, then everything will come
It's like, if you get that, you don't play anymore. Somebody else
Plays for you. You see what I mean? You don't need to play
It's just, it'll come, it'll come, just like, -whoosh
, You know, and you could play three hours and say, "Wow
I just started." Okay? Because time, if it's right, it
Fool you like that. Anyway, that's what I'm working on
