Testo Barbara Allen - Peter & Gordon
Testo della canzone Barbara Allen (Peter & Gordon), tratta dall'album In Touch With Peter and Gordon
'Twas in the merry month of May
When flowers were a-bloomin'
Sweet William on his death bed lay
For the love of Barbara Allen
He sent his servant to the town
The town where she was dwellin'
Said "Master dear has sent me here
If your name be Barbara Allen"
Then slowly, slowly she got up
And slowly she went to him
And all she said when she got there
"Young man, I think you're dyin'"
As Barbara was on her journey home
She bursted out a-cryin'
Sayin' "Pick me up and carry me home
I feel like I am dyin'"
They buried Willy in the old churchyard
And Barbara in the new one
On Willy's grave there grew a red rose
On Barbara's a green brier
They grew and grew in the old churchyard
And could not grow no higher
And there they twined in a true love knot
The rose bush and the brier
The rose bush and the brier
