Testo And You And I - Rick Wakeman
Testo della canzone And You And I (Rick Wakeman), tratta dall'album The Grand Piano Tour
I mean, she taught me so many things. Even in the early days
I remember in the winter, 'cause there was no heating upstairs
She used to have a big old tin bath she used to bring in the
Dining room, which I used to stand in at age 3 while she washed
Me with a big sponge. And I can remember even then words of wisdom
I can remember her, you know, sort of washing me with the sponge
And washing me dangly bits and looking down. And only 3, and going
"Mummy, are they my brains?" And she said, "Not yet, dear."
A little unknown fact about my parents as well, actually
Which you don't know, and it's... I'm not really told
This part... they actually wanted me aborted. But the
Doctor said as I was already 4, it was a bit late
Children. Who's got children? I mean, don't children say the most
Awkward questions to you? Like, "Are you my dad?" You know, and
They think... Actually, true story, when my daughter Gemma, who some
Of you I know know, when Gemma was about 3, they do ask the most
Awkward questions. And the ones you normally fear are the sex
Questions. But I had one from Gemma. She came... she was about, what
3 Years old, and I'm sitting on the loo. And kids just walk in
They don't care. So I'm sitting on the loo, you know, doing the...
Oh, what you do. And in comes Gemma. And she just looks at me and I
Said, "Hello, Gemma." And she went, "Daddy?" And I said, "Yes." She
Said, "Where does poo come from?" I said, "Right." I said, "Well
Gemma, you know you had your breakfast this morning." She said, "
Yes, Daddy." And I said, "Well, the food goes into your tummy, and all
The goodness goes into your body to help you grow. And all the bad
Nasty stuff comes out your bottom
As poo." She went, "Oh. And Tigger?"
"Gone But Not Forgotten" is a piece of music that I know a lot of
People have used to play when they've lost someone very close to
Them. And basically that pretty much covers everybody. I played
It for six hours solid when my mum died. And I didn't realize I
Was playing it for six hours solid. But all the time I was playing
It, I kept having these wonderful visions of all the great things
That my mum did when she made me laugh, and what a great mum. So
When I play this piece, I always think of my mum. And I always
Say to people who are listening to it, if you've got somebody
You've lost, or somebody very close to you that you've lost, or
Even they might even be a long way away, just close your eyes and
Imagine them while the piece of music's going on, and think of the
Happy thoughts. Because even if you've lost somebody, they leave
You the most wonderful memories. So this is "Gone But Not Forgotten."
