Testo The Great Escape - P!nk
Testo della canzone The Great Escape (P!nk), tratta dall'album The Truth About Love - Track by Track Commentary
"The Great Escape" is my ballad and it's, I wrote it with Dan Wilson
Who's from Semisonic. He wrote "Closing Time." He is one of the most
I'm so, the best part of my job is that I get to meet people like
Dan Wilson. He is so smart, but he's one of those really intelligent
People that doesn't slap you across the face with it or try to make
You less. I'm a high school dropout. I got my smarts from reading
Books on my own in the streets. And he is brilliant and he's a
Thoughtful songwriter and he's a song crafter, like old school song
He crafts songs and he thinks about them. And I learned a lot from
Working with him. And yeah, he just sits at the piano and we talk
And I give him my words and he turns them into beautiful poetry in
Motion. And I was inspired to write that song because I, a lot of
People think it's about suicide and, you know what? It's whatever
They want it to be about 'cause I don't try to, if that's what it
Does for someone, then I don't wanna ruin that by telling you my
Story. But for me, it's about how I think the entire world is just
Numbed down on something, whether it's antidepressants or anti-
Anxiety or, it just seems like there's a pill for everything now. Do
You wake up in the morning? You need, side effects include. And I
Have very personal relationships that frustrate the hell out of me
Because they can't feel anything. I personally need my highs
I need my lows. I, I have a gig that requires them and I just
I want them. I wanna feel. I wanna sit in my misery sometimes and
Just cry. But I think a lot of people are now taught to be afraid
Of their emotions or to hide them or to swallow them down and
Emotions make people uncomfortable. You know, we say, "How are you?
" But we don't wait around to hear the answer. And we don't really
Wanna hear the answer. In some cultures, it's actually rude to tell
Them the answer when they ask you how you are, which I've found out '
Cause I always try to answer that question. "Well, my feet hurt."
And they're like like you slap them across the face. But it's
Interesting. I played that song for a couple of people that I thought
Needed to hear it and they got really defensive, which was really is
I did my job. So I see a lot going on in the world and I sometimes
Wonder how we all sit back and just watch it like it's a reality
Show. It is a reality show. It's happening, people. This is happening
. This is the reality show. It's called life. This is not on Viva or
VH1. But yeah, so that's my thought on that song. And I think it's
Really beautiful. It's really just melodically beautiful. I'm a fan
